About Legal and Tech

Legaland.tech’s main focus is to provide a comprehensive collection of landmark patent law decisions/ case law in Europe and Germany. This allows patent practitioners to keep up to date with developments.

The collection is regularly updated with the latest landmark decisions. For each decision, the original headnote and a translation (if the headnote is not available in English) are included, along with AI feedback. Additionally, some decisions are tagged by an expert, as explained in more detail below.

Furthermore, legaland.tech provides additional information on software patents, as these are subject to specific conditions.

Basic information on the Unified Patent System is also provided.

Landmark Decisions

For each decision, AI feedback is provided alongside the original headnotes. The AI feedback is intended to serve as a guide and aid to help patent practitioners understand the headnotes more quickly. The AI feedback may contain errors.

Individual decisions are tagged with #actionable and #top:

  • #actionable means that the decision is likely to be more relevant in practice than decisions without these tags.
  • #top means that the decision is particularly interesting.

The decisions come from the following sources:

Softwarepatents

In addition, legaland.tech contains information on software patents as mentioned above. On the one hand, these are headnote decisions relating to computer-implemented inventions. On the other hand, the website explains the basics of software patents at the EPO.
